Bosc Pears and Lace

This painting went along swimmingly until I got to the lace. Boy, what on earth was I thinking????? The pears, the glass bowl, all were loads of fun. Then I got to the lace and suddenly cleaning the attic seemed like a good idea. Moving firewood around, ah yes the world is full of alternate activities to the desperate. It is crocheted lace and probably more work to paint than it was to crochet, but since I don’t crochet, what do I know? Finally I could no longer stand its nagging and accusatory looks whenever I was in the studio. So it’s done! It is 20″x16″ and acrylic on canvas, and I think I’ll enter it in Segil’s summer show.

Contemporary Masters Artistic Eden III Show

These two paintings were accepted into the 2012 Contemporary Masters Artistic Eden III show which opened this month. The show is held at the Pasadena Museum of History and celebrates life in the San Gabriel valley. I went down for the opening and was hugely impressed with the size and quality of the show. Still Life with Tangerines

This new one took a ridiculous amount of time, mostly because I was catching up on a lot of non-art stuff at the same time. Nevertheless, it is finally done and I can get on with some smaller ones. I created this with a show this spring in mind. It is acrylic on canvas and measures 18″x36″.

Good Morning Pasadena

This still life is the very first time I have used this great vintage tablecloth in a set up. I wanted to emphasize the San Gabriel Valley area so I will have to do another to get the rest in. I am submitting this piece into a regional themed show and finished it up just under the deadline. Sadly the cinnamon raisin roll was far too stale for consumption by the time its services as a model were over. This piece is acrylic on canvas and measures 20″x16″. SOLD.

Leeks

Red Grapes

Here’s a new one. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything and that’s because it’s been awhile since I’ve painted anything. As winter moves in I have a long list of jobs to get done before the snow flies. This small piece features a polished silver dish and some delicious red grapes I can now eat. It is 8″x6″, acrylic on canvas.

Completed Still Life

I was so close to finishing it last night but it was getting too dark in here. Ten straight days got it done. This piece is 18″x48″ acrylic on canvas and is a commission for the new Kern County library which opens on the 22nd of this month. It will be all varnished and in place by then.

Do I really want to post this? I think after 3 days it’s far enough along to do so. It is a commission for the new Kern Co library and measures 18″x48″. I’m aiming at getting it completed within a week and it is looking likely I’ll make it. It’s acrylic on canvas and the largest of this sort of painting I’ve tackled yet.
